Summer Party for Dublin Homeless Community’

Homeless people from Dublin were guests at ‘Summer Party for Dublin Homeless Community’ , a new event which was held in Iveagh Gardens. The event was organised in collaboration with the Dublin Lions Club, UCD Staff and UCD Students (UCDLC).

Guests enjoyed a festival of food, music entertainment plus a range of services , including a wellness tent, chiropodist, barber, nail technician, vet (to look at any pets) and information bureaus on how to create a CV, apply for a job and how to access social services.

The OPW kindly made Iveagh Gardens available for this unique festival type event. In preparation on Saturday morning, Iveagh Gardens was transformed with areas for food stalls, the wellness area and a stage for the various musical acts from UCD also Mundy, Declan O’Rourke and Absolutely Yo.

The guests for this ticket-only event came from many different venues, including the Dublin Simon Community, St Vincent DePaul, the Capuchin Day Centre, Iveagh Trust, Alice Leahy Trust, Salvation Army, Crosscare, Stepping Stone and various day centres. The profile of guests spans the homeless / sheltered / lonely. Included in the guests are many nationalities.
